On the 106th anniversary of May 19, 1919, when the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, landed in Samsun and started our War of Independence, we remember with mercy and gratitude all our martyrs and veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. THE SOIL OF MY COUNTRY IS CLEAN

When British King Edward VIII  came to Istanbul, he got on a motorboat from his yacht and approached Dolmabahçe Palace. Atatürk was waiting for him at the dock. The sea was wavy. The motorboat the King got on was going up and down. When the Emperor wanted to go to the dock, his hand touched the ground and got dusty. At that moment, Atatürk extended his hand. When the King saw this and wanted to wipe his hand with a handkerchief, Atatürk said:

- My country's soil is clean, it will not dirty your hands,

and took the King by the hand and took him to the dock.
